The Mackay Marina
Taken from the Clarion Hotel, Mackay Harbour, Queensland, Australia. In the background are many, and I say many, coal ships (giant colliers). The Port of Haypoint/Dalrymple Bay can be seen, between the 2 islands. There has been, at any one time 50 to 75 ships lying for miles out to sea.. awaiting their loads of Bowen Basin coal for the China, Japan, Korea, India and others. The haze and the quality of my camera does not show the scene to the fullest. You can make out a few ships distantly. It is the biggest port of its kind in the world. That is not an idle boast.. it is fact.
