Pamela Travers

It was 1973 I purchased a set of Caxton Encyclopaedias. As one does you read them from end to end. In my reading I found this small paragraph on a lady called Pamela Travers. Ms Gough here real name. She was of Irish descent born in Maryborough, Queensland. At the time I thought that was amazing that a Queensland lady wrote a story called Mary Poppins. I don't think anybody believed me. Years later I took it to the editor of the Mackay Daily Mercury, where I was working as an artist. The editor said, no it was not much of interest really. Within a week there was anarticle on the very same woman in the Australian Women's Weekly. Three pages and photos of the elderly lady living in London. I bought a copy and threw it on the editor's desk, and said not much of interest was it. Ha!
What you and I think make good stories is completely different to Journos.
