Today, May 21, 2009 Mum lies in bed at Mackay's Good Shepherd Lodge. She is close to death.
Doctor made claim on Tuesday, that she would not see the night out. Her body has shut down. She refuses water and food, but still survives. Got word last night the younger sister, Lyn is coming up from Doonside, will be here Friday night. Mum must have been waiting for her.
We don't know how she is existing. She weighs approx. 28 kilos. She was only 5ft. tall anyway. Had a quadruple by-pass 19 years ago. How strong is that. This picture was taken 1945. She would have been out of the convent only 2 years. Mum was a Sister of the Sacred Heart at Bowral Boys College Monastery, NSW, her last posting. Dad was still in the Navy at Kuttabul, Garden Island. Mum has lived in Mackay since Dad's death in 1980. Mum was born at Randwick and grew up at West Ryde and Dad was born at Wollongong.
